Become a Lifeguard
Ongoing Yearly Team Programs

Lillooet Area Swim Team
Reinstate a local swim team, where young people can build their skills and endurance, and provide them the opportunity to compete regionally.
Duration: 1 hour x 5 days per week x 40 weeks

Junior Lifeguard Club
Develop lifesaving and first aid skills, strengthen aquatic abilities, and maintain an active lifestyle. Program builds endurance and safety awareness. Skills learned promote healthy recreational use around water in any setting, builds the skills necessary for lifesaving in emergencies, and is a platform for building potential future lifeguards.
Duration: 1 hour x 2 days per week x 40 weeks

Synchronized Artistic Swimming Team
Hybrid form of swimming, dance and gymnastics. This sport demands strength, endurance, flexibility, grace, and artistry. Similar to Skate Lillooet but in the water!
Duration: 1 hour x 2 days per week x 40 weeks

Springboard Diving Team
Artistic sport that combines gymnastics, dancing and precision. This sport demands strength, flexibility, and courage.
Duration: 1 hour X 2 days per week x 40 weeks
Wellness and Mobility Programs

Get Fit Again Program
Mental health wellness sessions for people experiencing trauma, and/or difficulties coping in their lives. Water activities can provide a calming influence. Self-care instruction with support from health workers, followed by social activity.
Duration: 1.5 hours X 1 day per week x 40 weeks

Care Program

Parent and Tot Water Program
Get Together sessions for parents of young babies and toddlers. Parents are often isolated and this provides a place to meet with other parents, and to connect with their child in a different environment.
Duration: 1.5 hours x 1 day per week x 40 weeks

Masters Swim Club
A National Program that supports adults to engage in a lifetime of growth, discovery and personal achievement through swimming.
Duration: 1 hour X 3 days per week x 40 weeks
Safety and Fitness Programs

Family Safety Camps
Fun, interactive camps for the whole family focusing on safety around water, including rivers, lakes, backyard pools, bathtubs, and identifying risks when fishing and boating. Lifesaving Society Program
Duration: 4 seasonal day camps of 3 hours duration

Pool STEM - Science in the Pool
The pool makes a great laboratory! Fun engaging activities that explore science, technology, engineering and math skills in the water and on the deck. Teachers Pay Teachers resources available.
Duration: 1 hour per week X 4 weeks x 4 sessions (16 weeks)

SUP Fit
Introduction to working out on the water, combining gentle exercises on a Stand Up Paddle Board, with intervals of paddling, improving core strength, endurance and balance. Good for Yoga on Water or Interval Training.
Duration: 1.5 hours x 1 day per week X 20 weeks

Fraser River Salmon Swim Challenge
Challenge people of all ages to follow the route of the salmon from the ocean to the headwaters, and log their kms as they go - can they make the 1,375 kms? No rules; just swim the pool anyway you want!

10 Week Sport Programs - Youth/Adults

Water Polo
A competitive team sport where players, swim, tread water, pass the ball and shoot at the goal. Highly physical with teamwork, tactical thinking and awareness all important aspects of the game.
Duration: 1 hour per week for 10 weeks X 2 sessions (Y/A)

Water Basketball
A recreational sport that mixes the rules of basketball and water polo, where teams of 5 players each must shoot at the goal with a ball within a certain time frame.
Duration: 1 hour per day for 10 weeks x 2 sessions (Y/A)

Underwater Hockey
A globally played limited-contact sport in which 2 teams compete to manoeuvre a puck across the bottom of a swimming pool into a goal by propelling it with a hockey stick (pusher), while holding their breath!
Duration: 1 hour per week for 10 weeks X 2 sessions (Y/A)

Underwater Rugby
An underwater sport where 2 teams try to score a negatively buoyant ball into the opponents goal at the bottom of a swimming pool. A fast paced and exhausting game. Great cardio workout.
Duration: 1 hour per day for 10 weeks x 2 sessions (Y/A)
Outdoor Recreational Water Sports

Whitewater Kayaking
Canoe Kayak BC ran 2 programs in Lillooet in the past, and we have local kayakers. The initial learning takes place in the pool; and practice sessions in the pool keep safety rolling and rescue skills current. International Olympic sport.
Duration: 1.5 hours per week for 10 weeks X 2 sessions (Y/A)

Lake Kayaking
Lake and ocean kayaking are fast becoming popular recreational activities. The pool is a safe place to practice rescue methods and other paddling skills.
Duration: 1.5 hours per week for 10 weeks x 2 sessions (Y/A)

Scuba Diving
Scuba Diving lessons in the pool, followed by an ocean dive. Practice sessions in the pool keep skills current and gives people a chance to dive when it is too cold outside!

Water Safety - For Boaters, SUPs, Fishers, etc.
Program to build swimming, lifesaving and first aid skills, and provide a safe place to practice safety techniques.
